Study settings

Study settings live in the settings panel on the study page, organized into tabs: General, Sharing, AI Interviewer, Branding, Languages, and Notifications. This page covers everything except the AI Interviewer and Languages tabs, which have their own pages.

General

Setting	Description
Study name	The internal title of your study.
Interview engine	Regular AI (1 credit per completion), Realtime AI (Beta, 2 credits), or Survey (no AI questions; uses discounted survey credits). You can’t switch to Survey while the study still contains conversational questions (AI Question or Exploratory).
Conversation mode	Text only, Text and voice, Voice with preview, or Video (Regular engine); Text only or Voice to voice (Realtime engine).
Silence threshold	Voice-to-voice only: how long the AI waits after the participant stops speaking (0.5–5 s, default 1.5 s).
Require device	Any device, Desktop only, or Mobile only.
Record user screens	Desktop only. Choose Browser tab or Full screen recording permissions.

Advanced settings

Setting	Description
Show voice tooltip	Prompt participants that they can answer by voice (non-voice modes).
Allow copy and paste	Off by default — keeping it off deters low-effort or AI-generated text answers.
Beta transcription models	Use the newest transcription models first.
Customize support email	Replace the default support contact shown to participants.
Show estimated completion time	Display the expected length of the study on the welcome screen.
Project ID	Read-only study identifier — used with the API and Embed SDK.

Setting	Description
Project status	Live (accepting participants) or Paused.
Quota	Cap the number of completions. When the quota is reached, new participants are sent to your pause URL.
Custom pause URL	Where participants land when the study is paused or full. Supports `{param}` placeholders from URL parameters, including a placeholder as the full URL base. The resolved destination must use `http://` or `https://`.
Unique identifier	The URL parameter name you use to identify participants (e.g. `uid`). Enables per-participant tracking and cross-device resume. Share links as `…/s/{studyId}?uid=12345`.

Branding

Setting	Description
Interviewer avatar	Upload a custom avatar image for the AI interviewer.
Interviewer name	The name participants see in the conversation.
Primary color	The accent color of the participant experience (default `#00786F`).
Hide Versive branding	Removes “Powered by Versive” from the participant experience. Available on eligible plans.

Study messages

Three fixed messages frame every study. Each is fully editable and translated along with your questions:

Welcome message — title, body, and call-to-action button text shown before the study starts.
Thank-you message — title, body, and an optional CTA link shown on completion.
Screen-out message — what disqualified participants see, with an optional CTA link.

Notifications

Get notified when an interview completes:

Email — send to one or more addresses.
Slack — post to a channel via an incoming webhook URL.
Webhooks — call your own endpoint, for custom workflows.

Access policy

Each study has an access policy that sets the default level of access for organization members: Full access, Can edit, Can view, or Invite only. Combine with per-user study roles for finer control.
