Quotas
A quota stops the study from accepting new participants once you have enough completes. Anyone already mid-interview can still finish. Set it in Sharing & participants by choosing one of three modes:
To cap individual answer options instead (for example 50 iPhone users and 50 Android users), use question quotas. They work independently of the study quota and can be combined with it.
Per link parameter

Name the parameter
Enter the parameter name your links will carry, such as
group. Letters, digits, underscores, and hyphens only.2
Add a row per value
Each row pairs a link value with its number of completes. Every value can be used once, up to 50 values per study.

Share one link per value
Append the parameter to the study link:
?group=1 counts toward the 1 row, while ?Group=1 or ?group=01 do not. The parameter is stored as response metadata like any other hidden field, so you can filter results by it.
Require a matching value decides what happens to participants whose link has no value from your list, including the plain study link:
- Off (default): they are let in. Their completes don’t count toward any row.
- On: they are turned away and see the same thing as participants arriving at a full study.
Closing a quota
A limit of 0 closes the study (Total completes) or that one value (Per link parameter) to new participants. To remove the cap entirely, switch to No quota.What participants see when a quota is full
Late arrivals are handled the same way as a paused study, in this order:- The quota redirect of their participant source, when the link carries a
sourceparameter that has one. - Your custom pause URL, if set.
- The built-in paused page (“This study has been paused”).
What counts toward a quota
- Only completed interviews count. In-progress and screened-out interviews don’t.
- Mock interviews, previews, and AI simulations never count.
- Archived interviews don’t count.
Caps are approximate. Versive checks the count when a participant arrives and lets everyone who was admitted finish, so several participants completing at the same moment can push a total slightly past its limit.
Tracking progress
The study header shows a quota pill:Quota 42/100 for a total cap, or the parameter name with combined progress (Group · 38/60) with a per-value breakdown on hover. It turns amber when any value is full and red when every value is full. The pill covers the study quota only; question quotas show their own counts in the question editor.
Branding
Branding is per study, so what you set here affects this study only.
To avoid restyling every study by hand, owners and admins can set a default logo and primary color for the whole organization under Organization > Settings > Study defaults — see study branding defaults. New studies start from those defaults; this tab always wins over them, and changing a default later leaves studies that already exist alone.
Study messages
Three fixed messages frame every study. Each is fully editable and translated along with your questions:- Welcome message — title, body, and call-to-action button text shown before the study starts.
- Thank-you message — title, body, and an optional CTA link shown on completion.
- Screen-out message — what disqualified participants see, with an optional CTA link.
Notifications
Get notified when an interview completes:- Email — send to one or more addresses.
- Slack — post to a channel via an incoming webhook URL.
- Webhooks — call your own endpoint, for custom workflows.
